Magazine ad, circa 1976

This shows the oldest view of the original mural. I was able to meet with the original owner who comissioned the mural back in 1965. I am grateful for all the help and background information he provided, including this Jaguar ad.

If you look closely at this view, note the more linear stylized rendering of the figures. Also you can see, at the top edge of the building, pairs of gunsmith makers marks. When originally built the building housed a weapons museum and there were 5 pairs of makers marks that were painted by an unknown artist before the mural was added.
I was also fortunate to meet with the artist who painted the original mural. With his help, and that of several other Saint Augustine re-enactors, I was able to collect detailed information about the uniforms and accuratly represent the British troops that briefly occupied the ancient city prior to the Colonial Revolution.

Below is a series showing the deteriorated condition of the mural as I began it's restoration in the summer of 2004.
